Bad Street Design is Costly and Deadly
The car-centric design of North American streets and roads resulted in over 7,853 pedestrians killed in 2022 alone, averaging 21 deaths per day. This has increased by 77.3% from 2012 to 2022.

In Davis, California (population ~70,000), pedestrian injuries dropped by 43% from 2014 to 2019 after implementing traffic calming measures, crosswalks, and bike lanes.
